Residential properties are currently being evacuated in Scotch Street, outside Portadown, following reports of a fire.
Police have said they are assisting colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service with the operation in the Timakeel area of the village this afternoon (Tuesday).
A PSNI spokesperson said: “We would ask that the public avoid the area, and motorists seek an alternative route for their journey.”
One resident in the area contacted Armagh I to report a ‘loud explosion’ in the area around 11am, accompanied by a ‘large cloud of black smoke’.
This report is yet to be confirmed by authorities.
UPDATE: The Timakeel area of Portadown has now fully reopened to traffic following an earlier report of a fire in the area.
