Teenager (17) to appear in court following weekend assault in Portadown

A teenage boy has been charged following an incident in Portadown at the weekend which reportedly saw part of People’s Park cordoned off by police.

The 17-year-old has been charged with criminal damage and assault in connection with an incident in the St John’s Crescent area on Saturday, April 25.

He is due to appear before Lisburn Magistrates’ Court on Monday, April 27.

Police did not give further details about the nature of the incident, but it is understood that Portadown People’s Park was sealed off for a period on Saturday as officers responded and carried out enquiries.

A PSNI spokesperson confirmed: “Police investigating an incident in the St John’s Crescent area of Portadown on Saturday, 25th April have charged a 17-year-old male to court. He has been charged with criminal damage and assault and is due to appear at Lisburn Magistrates’ Court on Monday 27th April. As is normal procedure all charges are reviewed by the PPS.”
