Three people are in custody tonight after goods stolen by a shoplifter in Portadown were recovered in Rostrevor.
Police say that at round 11.30am this morning, a male shoplifter left the Portadown store with stolen goods and got into a nearby car with accomplices.
In their haste to leave, they nearly knocked down staff members and then collided with another car and fled the scene.
“Luckily the staff were able to give police the registration number of the car,” say police.
Later, at around 5pm an eagle-eyed police crew in Rostrevor spotted the car.
Police say: “The car was stopped and searched with a significant quantity of goods believed to be stolen located inside.
“The three occupants of the car have been arrested for numerous offences and are all now in custody and the car in police possession.
“The car involved in this incident was a gold coloured English registration Audi A4. If anyone has seen any suspicious activity involving a vehicle matching this description today, please contact police ASAP on 101.”
