Tributes paid to cherished Portadown classroom assistant whose ‘infectious laugh’ lit up rooms

Tributes have been paid following the “heart-breaking” death of a “beautiful girl, inside and out” from Portadown.

Gillian Jeffers, who passed away peacefully at hospital on April 1, has been described by many as “amazing,” “kind and caring,” and “one of the best.”

She was known by many for her dedicated and compassionate work within Millington Primary School, where she was cherished by the pupils, parents of pupils, and her friends and colleagues with whom she worked.

Of her role as a Classroom Assistant within the school, one person described her as “such a ray of sunshine in Millington,” adding, “she will be missed so much.”

Others who knew her have spoken of her “infectious laugh” and a smile that could light up any room and make “anyone feel better.”

Of Gillian, one person said: “We will all miss you, Gilly. Your smile lit up a room. Your laugh will be forever ingrained in my heart. You are loved beyond words!

“I will treasure you in my heart forever. Deepest sympathies and prayers to your entire family at this difficult time. xo.”

Another added: “Absolutely devastated to hear this news. My thoughts and prayers are with you all, but my heart is broken when I think of you, Eve [Gillian’s sister].

“I don’t think I was ever in Gillian’s company that she didn’t have me in stitches. Sincere condolences to you all. xx.”

A death notice describes Gillian as the beloved mother of Benjamin (Rebekah) and Lucy (Matthew), much-loved daughter of Brenda Redpath and Kenneth Crawford, and stepdaughter of Clifford Redpath and Noelle Crawford, dear sister of Lorraine and Eve, cherished auntie to Ellie, Grace, Rebecca, Joel, Jake, Maisy, and Reuben, and sister-in-law of Thomas and Stuart.

Her funeral is due to take place on Friday (April 4) in St. Saviour’s Parish Church, Dobbin, followed by interment in Kernan Cemetery.

Friends are welcome at Gillian’s home on Wednesday and Thursday from 2pm to 8pm.
