Two men to appear in court in relation to arson attacks on police officers

Two men will appear in court this morning charged with a litany of offences in relation to attacks on serving police officers.

The men, aged 26 and 41, have been charged with conspiracy to cause an explosion, three counts of arson endangering life with intent, conspiracy to commit arson, being concerned in the supply of class A, B and C controlled drugs and encouraging or assisting an offence believing it will be committed.

They are both expected to appear before Lisburn Magistrates Court this morning, (Thursday).

The charges are in connection with an investigation into a number of incidents of arson endangering life at the homes of serving police officers in the Banbridge, Portadown and Gilford areas between April and July last year.

Five people, four males and a female have already been charged in connection with this investigation and two other women have also been charged with a number of drugs offences as part of the same investigation.
