Van and car involved in early morning Northway collision

Northway Portadown

A van and car have been involved in a serious road traffic accident on the Northway in Portadown this morning (Thursday).

The Northern Ireland Air Ambulance rushed to the scene of the collision between Asda and the turn-off for Craigavon Area Hospital shortly after 8am.

Paramedics were on the scene treating the injured, however, it is not known at this early stage how many people have been injured or the nature of those injuries.

Police have cordoned off the road from the M1 turn-off right through to the Portadown town centre as emergency services continue to deal with the incident.

The Air Ambulance left the scene a little while after 10am.

Motorists are being advised to avoid the area as the road is set to remain closed for a period of time.
