A Lurgan woman who swapped places in a car after seeing police has been handed six penalty points for permitting her ex-boyfriend to drive whilst uninsured.
Kaya Majewski, 20, of Charles Baron Mews, pleaded guilty to permitting no insurance at Craigavon Magistrates Court on Friday.
It was heard on April 25 police spotted the 20-year-old’s ex-boyfriend driving a Honda Civic in Edward Street, Portadown.
Checks showed that the vehicle was insured to a female but when officers stopped the car Majewski was in the driver’s seat.
When interviewed, she told police she had swapped places with her boyfriend after seeing them.
Defence solicitor Siun Downey stated the defendant had just given birth and had since sold the vehicle.
She added that Majewski was still within the two years after passing her test and there was “a certain inevitability about today”.
The defendant was handed six penalty points and ordered to pay a fine of £300, along with the offender’s levy of £15, within 18 weeks.
