Poyntzpass Post Office is due to reopen in March – six months after closing down.
But it is due to reopen at a different location and the Post Office is currently staging a six-week consultation to seek the public’s views.
Post Office has written to Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council to highlight the plans.
The new location would be at Trainor Bros Retail, 14 Chapel Street, Poyntzpass.
If it goes ahead after the consultation, it would change to one of the new local style branches.
Post Office is seeking views regarding the suitability of the proposed new location, prior to the closing date of February 18.
Local Sinn Féin MLA Cathal Boylan is encouraging people to engage in the consultation, which seeks views on location suitability, ease of access and suggestions that could improve services.
In October 2015, the Church Street branch temporarily closed due to the withdrawal of the premises for Post Office use.
Since then, the new operator has been proposed at Trainor Bros Retail.
“I would urge people to make their views known which will assist with the restoration and development of an important service for the area,” said the MLA.
“Indeed, this is not the first time the people of Poyntzpass have suffered short breaks in postal services and the proposal to reopen services is welcome news.”
The change was part of a programme of modernisation taking place across the Post Office network and will see additional investment to outreach branches across the board.
