Officers from the Armagh Neighbourhood Policing Team have visited Southern Regional College to deliver focused presentations to students on keeping safe on nights out.
More than 800 students, both male and female, attended over two days to view presentations on the PSNI’s One Punch and Without Consent its Rape campaigns.
Students were shown short films which demonstrated how young people might find themselves caught up in violence or incidents where sexual offences may occur.
The films also highlighted the potential consequences of seriously injuring, assaulting or hurting another person.
Constable Rob Doyle, Armagh NPT, said: “This presentation is aimed at educating our young people and giving them the knowledge and confidence to extricate themselves from a potentially harmful situation if they need to.
“One Punch and Without Consent It Is Rape looks at issues such as how alcohol can affect your judgement, how you can get pulled into a situation which is out of your control and how every individual needs to take responsibility for their own actions. It allows young people to see what the possible consequences may be if they get caught up in violence or sexual offending.
“The aim of the presentation is to help young people in Armagh make good decisions and keep themselves and their friends safe.”
The presentations ended with a question and answer session and were well received by the students.
