Public events pass off without ‘major incident’ over weekend, say police

A number of organised public events in the Craigavon area over the weekend passed off successfully.

Chief Inspector Paul Reid said: “It was a busy weekend for police in Craigavon over the weekend with a number of planned events requiring police support and attendance.

“I am pleased to say that the mini twelfth in Portadown, Lurgan Park Rally and the annual Drumcree parade passed off without major incident.

“This was in no small part due to the hard work of organisers, the commitment of participants in the events and the support of the general public.

“I would like to recognise the joint efforts of all involved, including police officers who liaised with organisers and carried out duties at each event.

“I am also asking for the continued support of the public over the coming weeks to ensure that this year’s parading season continues to be a peaceful one.”
