Queen ‘under medical supervision’ amid health concerns as Royals head to Balmoral

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is currently ‘under medical supervision’ at Balmoral, amid reports that her doctors are concerned for her health.

A statement, which has been released this afternoon by Buckingham Palace, said: “Following further evaluation this morning, The Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision.

“The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral.”

It is reported that members of the Royal Family have landed at Aberdeen, before heading to Balmoral.

It is understood that in light of the current situation, the traditional Changing of the Guard ceremony, which was set to take place tomorrow, has been called off by the Palace.

On the announcement of the Queen’s ill health, thoughts and prayers from all sections of society in the United Kingdom poured in, with Britain’s new Prime Minister Liz Truss posting on Twitter:

“The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime. My thoughts – and the thoughts of people across our United Kingdom – are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time.”

In a release from the Church of Ireland, the Archbishop of Armagh John McDowell said:

“The Archbishop of Armagh and the people of the Church of Ireland, conscious of concerns around the health of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, would offer their prayers and urge others to pray at this very difficult time.”

The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, the Right Reverend Dr John Kirkpatrick has said: “Along with many across these islands and those in our Church, I was deeply concerned to hear the news from Balmoral regarding the Queen’s health. Praying for Her Majesty and her family at this very anxious time, as many across our denomination will be. Praying that she will experience the presence of The Lord, and strong faith in weakness. May she also know rest and the Lord’s hand upon her. Grace and peace be with her family.”

Alongside church leaders, local politicians have taken to social media to offer their thoughts and prayers, with the MP for Upper Bann Carla Lockhart, and Jonathan Buckley MLA expressing their concerns.

Political leaders have also poured in their support, with Jeffrey Donaldson of the DUP and Doug Beattie of the UUP among those offering their best wishes.
