There are reports that a man – allegedly armed – forced his way into a house in Newtownhamilton earlier today (Tuesday).
Sinn Féin Newry & Mourne Councillor Barra Ó Muirí has the incident in Dungormley housing estate in allegedly involved a handgun and had caused “deep shock and concern within the local community”.
“My understanding is that a man forced his way into a home on Dungormley Estate,” he said.
“It is unclear as to why this home was entered or if it was the case of mistaken identity. This is a totally unacceptable action.
“Thankfully no one was injured, but it must have been a very frightening experience for all.
“This attack was wrong and must be condemned. It is important that a clear message goes out that there is no place for guns on our streets. Our community does not want this.”
