Former Armagh GAA star Ronan Clarke is expected to undergo tests in the coming days after sustaining a serious head injury in Friday night’s game.
The Pearse Og player collapsed a short time after playing for the city side in a championship match against Maghery.
He collided with a post during the game and was later rushed to Craigavon Area Hospital.
The Armagh man, who starred for the Orchard County in their 2002 All-Ireland final win against Kerry, had been in a coma.
But the 32-year-old has been making “slow but steady progress” according to Pearse Og this morning.
Ronan, who twice won All Star awards, only married two weeks ago. His new bride Michelle, and family have been by his bedside.
Gaelic Life is reporting this morning: “Ronan Clarke is understood to have made significant improvement. He remains in intensive care but there have been positive signs with the star expected to undergo tests in the coming days.”
There has been an outpouring of support for Ronan across Armagh and the country as a whole and he and his family are in our thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.
