Sad end to brilliant day as thieves steal ducks from Marie Curie fundraiser

Cruel thieves put a dampener on a fantastic charity event in Scarva on Saturday.

The Craigavon Fundraising Group of Marie Curie was delighted with the turnout for the annual Scarva Stroll.

This year, for the first time ever, the event also included a Big Duck Hunt along the Canal.duck marie curie

All of the ducks had been individually named and the kids loved the chance of finding them.

Sadly, someone saw fit to steal four of the brightly coloured ducks used for the event.

And the organisers want them back so they can repeat the event in future.

A spokesperson for the organisers said they were desperate to have them returned.

He said: “We want them back. Please if you know of their whereabouts please contact us in confidence or ensure they are returned to the Scarva Tearooms.”

The event was also a brilliant success until that moment and again the organisers want to thank all for coming along and showing their support.

He added: “It was a great day and we enjoyed meeting you all. When we have finished counting we will update you on how much we raised for Marie Curie.

“Every penny from today will be spent locally to continue providing Care and Support through terminal illness.”
