THE ORCHARD Councillor Gerard Paul White has branded those responsible for dumping a sheep carcass near a waterway as ‘thoughtless individuals’.
The dead animal was found near a stream on Donnelly’s Hill Road, Tullysaran and Sinn Féin Cllr White has ensured that Armagh Council’s Environmental Health department have removed the carcass.
“The people responsible for this despicable act have no respect for this community or the environment,” Cllr White said.
“When this problem came to light I immediately arranged for the carcass to be safely removed due to its proximity to a local water way. We cannot risk having our water polluted in this way.
“The Donnelly’s Hill Road area, known locally as the Glens, is popular with walkers who have reported their shock to me at seeing the remains of this animal discarded here.
“We must guard against our health and the unspoilt beauty of our area being threatened by this and other types of fly tipping. People who do this are selfish and thoughtless and have no respect for our environment or this community.
“I would call on anyone who has any information regarding this incident to contact Armagh Council’s Environmental Health unit or DARD.”
