CULL cow trade was particularly strong at Markethill yesterday (Tuesday) with prices significantly increased on the week.
Cow/heifers to £186.50 for 590k at £1100 and up to £1340 for 740k (181). Fleshed cows sold steadily from £135 to £159 for 720k at £1145 and up to £1220 for 790k (154.50). Friesians cows sold up to £1130 for 850k (133) and up. All fleshed friesians (inc non FQA) sold from £115 to £132 per 100 kilos. Second quality friesians from £95 to £110 per 100 kilos and the poorest types from £65 to £85 per 100 kilos. Aged Friesian bulls to £136 for 940k at £1280.
Dairy stock sold to £1520 for a calved 2nd calver from a Poyntzpass farmer. The same seller received £1510 and £1470 for 2nd calver. A Dungannon farmer received £1140 each for 2 calved heifers.
