The discovery of a syringe discarded in a residential area in a south Armagh village has prompted an angry response.
The find was made in an alleyway running between two estates in Culloville.
And Newry, Mourne & Down Councillor Terry Hearty said the discovery in an area used by the public was a “cause for great concern”.
“While it cannot be determined if this had been used with illegal drugs, the fact that someone discarded it recklessly in an area used by children without concern for the health or safety of the local community is concerning,” said the Sinn Fein representative.
“Such items are extremely dangerous, especially to younger children who may not be aware of what they have found.
“I would appeal to parents to tell any young person who comes across such discarded items not to touch them.”
