Armagh GAA club in ‘shut down’ after player tests positive for Covid-19

A Co. Armagh GAA club has announced it is shutting down all club activities after one of its players tested positive for Covid-19.

Killeavy GAA chairman Michael O’Neill made the announcement this afternoon (Thursday).

In a statement, he said: “I regret to inform all our members and friends that one of our players has tested positive for Covid 19.

“According to protocol, we have no option but to shut down all club activities and the gates of the club will be locked from this afternoon.

“Public Health has been informed and they will now be carrying out a test and trace operation.

“I would ask all our members to cooperate with Public Health if required.

“The Armagh County Board has also been informed and all fixtures across all codes will be postponed until further notice.

“We wish our player well and hope for a full and speedy recovery.”

It follows on from news on Tuesday that a team member in Eglish – just a couple of miles from the Armagh / Tyrone border – tested positive for the coronavirus.
