Residents of a housing development in south Armagh had a lucky escape after a car was torched in the drive way of one of the properties.
It happened during the early hours of Good Friday morning at Forest Park in Dromintee.
“Neighbours were alerted by the tyres exploding and phoned the Fire Service who were quickly on the scene and prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent houses,” said Sinn Fein councillor Mickey Larkin.
Branding the arson attack “reckless and criminal”, he added: “It endangered the lives and homes of residents living beside the vehicle.
“Only for the quick reaction of the householders and prompt arrival of the Fire Brigade we could be dealing with a tragedy.
“I would encourage anyone who has any piece of information relating to this crime to either contact myself in confidence or the police.”
