Police are upping patrols in Newtownhamilton over the Halloween period as anti-social behaviour in the town escalates.
In one incident recently, the NI Fire and Rescue Service were called after a metal clothes bin was set on fire.
This was only one in a string of incidents which police said they are well aware of.
Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for South Armagh Adam Corner said: “Officers are continuing to work with local elected and community representatives to address these issues and will be doing so as the Halloween break approaches.
“We will also be putting in place increased patrols in the area over the period, and officers will be providing a visible policing presence.

“I would also continue to encourage everyone to report incidents of anti-social behaviour. These reports create opportunities for intervention and prevention by police and other partners.
“Reporting crimes or incidents that impact on your quality of life helps focus our patrols where they are needed and take positive action. Ring us on 101, report online at www.psni.police.uk/makeareport or speak directly to your Neighbourhood Team.”
Alternatively, information can be provided to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.
Sinn Féin councillor, Aoife Finnegan addressing the issues, said: “Locals should not be made to feel unsafe or uncomfortable in their homes or their community. I call on all those involved in these senseless acts to stop at once and to get off the backs of the local community.
“I will be working with a number of groups in the days ahead to see what actions we can take as a community to tackle this problem, particularly as we approach Halloween.”
