Newry and Armagh Sinn Féin is hosting ‘Saoirse Don Phalaistín’, a night in solidarity with Palestine on Thursday, March 21, at 7:30pm, in Tí Chulainn, Mullaghbawn.
The event will be addressed by several speakers, including Palestinian medic and activist Mohammed Samaana and Sinn Féin Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Matt Carthy TD.
Speakers will address a number of issues, including international solidarity, what we can do to support peace and freedom in Palestine and provide an update on the current situation in Gaza.
A short film on the current genocide in Gaza will also be show at the event.
‘Saoirse Don Phalaistín’ will also act as a fundraiser, with all proceeds going to the Palestinian Medical Relief Society.
Sinn Féin Councillor Aoife Finnegan, who is chairing the event, said: “The Israeli onslaught on Gaza has claimed the lives of over 31,000 men, women and children. The situation there is a humanitarian catastrophe.
“We all have an obligation to raise our voices in calling for an immediate ceasefire, leading to peace and freedom in Palestine.
“This event is an opportunity to show solidarity with the people of Palestine and raise much needed funds for immediate medical support. I would encourage all to attend and to give what you can in support of this cause.”
