“I have spoken to the police and they have said that at present they are continuing to investigate the matter and the circumstances involved, and I would urge the public to allow these investigations to be carried out diligently and void of speculation.

“The police state that at present no complaint has been receive by them and no person’s involved is on a ‘missing person list’.

“I have asked for further updates from the police and will endeavour to keep the local community informed of any outcomes.”

A police spokesperson told Armagh I: “Police attended licensed premises in the Forkhill Road area of south Armagh shortly before 6.30pm yesterday, Tuesday, May 13, and spoke with a person in distress.
