Sadness as Co Armagh teenager passes away almost three weeks after Camlough collision

Tributes have been paid to a south Armagh teenager who has passed almost three weeks after being injured in a collision.

Dylan Vallely had been left in a critical condition after the collision in Camlough at the end of October. He was one of three teenage boys injured.

The 16-year-old, from Newtownhamilton, has been in hospital since being treated.

Tragically, Dylan has now succumbed to his injuries plunging the local community into heartbreak.

The accident came a week after Dylan had been named Player of the Year by his GAA Club.

And that club, St Michael’s GAC, has leld the tributes to the popular schoolboy.

It said: “Our club is heartbroken on the passing of Dylan Vallely, our 2023 minor player of the year, our team mate and our friend.

“Dylan was a great lad, on and off the pitch, hardworking, talented and with great manners. He was well known and loved within not just our club but also in the whole GAA community in South Armagh and further afield.

“At this tough time, foremost in our thoughts are Dylan’s family. We offer our prayers and support for parents Shane and Catherine, sisters Sophia and Amelia and the wider Vallely and Toner family circle.

“Our thoughts are also with other club members affected by this tragedy including all Dylan’s team mates and circle of friends. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis.”

Also paying tributes were the Crossmaglen Rangers club, who said: “Crossmaglen Rangers are saddened to learn of the passing of Dylan Vallely. Our heartfelt condolences to Dylan’s Mammy and Daddy, Catherine & Shane, Sisters’ Sophia & Amelia, the extended Vallely & Toner families, friends and fellow Gaels, St Michael’s GFC Newtownhamilton classmates and staff St Joseph’s High School, Crossmaglen. We will continue to remember Dylan and you all in our thoughts and prayers. Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”

Funeral arrangements have not been released at this time.
