Two Co Armagh men have pleaded guilty to cultivating cannabis but have both denied any intention to sell the drug.

Gavin McPolin, 46, and Jonathan McPolin 41, both with addresses in Seafin Road, Meigh, appeared before Newry Crown Court on Tuesday.

The pair face four charges including cultivating cannabis, possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply, possession of a Class B drug and dishonestly using electricity.

Jonathan McPolin faces an additional charge of offering to supply a Class B drug.

During the brief preliminary enquiry hearing the pair both entered guilty pleas to cultivating cannabis and dishonestly using electricity.

While none of the facts were outlined in the courtroom, the pair denied all other charges levied at them.

Prosecuting, Geraldine McCullough told the court that she anticipated the trial will take close to two days, however, it may be less given the pleas entered on two of the counts.

A trial date of June 7 was indicated, with a review to take place next month.

His Honour Judge Gordon Kerr KC released the men on bail ahead of their trial in a little over three months time.
