Two men released on bail following attempted burglary of pub in Belleeks

Two men arrested in connection with an attempted burglary at licensed premises in south Armagh have been released on bail pending further police enquiries.

The men, aged 33 and 47, were arrested after police received a report at around 6.10am on Sunday, January 11, of a suspected burglary at premises in the Main Street area of Belleeks.

As previously reported, police were alerted by members of the public who observed two men on the roof of the building.

The suspects fled the scene in a blue car, which was later located and stopped by officers a short distance away after it was seen being driven erratically and at speed.

Both men were arrested on suspicion of offences including attempted burglary and burglary with intent to steal. Police have now confirmed that they have since been released on bail to allow for further enquiries to be carried out.

A police spokesperson said enquiries are ongoing and renewed an appeal for information.
