Warehouse clearance sale raises over £10k for family of Oran Marron

'We are blown away by the generosity and kindness shown by our community'

A warehouse clearance sale organised to support the bereaved family of a young Crossmaglen man who passed away while in Australia has raised over £10,000.

The stock clearance sale was held by Newry-based sportswear provider, Playr-Fit on September 27, with the entire day’s proceeds going to the family of 21-year-old, Oran Marron.

Oran passed away suddenly following a short illness on September 21. He had moved to Perth, Australia earlier this year.

The sale has now been concluded and the final count is in as Playr-Fit announce a whopping £10,505 has been raised to support Oran’s family during this incredibly difficult time.

Of the total amount, Playr-Fit said: “Every purchase and every contribution will make a real difference to the family of Oran Marron, and we couldn’t have done it without you.

“We are blown away by the generosity and kindness shown by our community.”

A separate GoFundMe page opened to help bring Oran home has also now raised over £100,000.

Organisers have also confirmed that any excess funds raised will be donated to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust and the Meningitis Trust.
