Staff working in the Southern Trust have been given a UK-wide recognition for their generosity to local charities.
It is the only Health Trust in the UK to have been awarded a Silver Payroll Giving Quality Mark, which recognises the achievement and commitment of the Trust and staff in supporting charities through Payroll Giving.
The Government-endorsed Payroll Giving Quality Mark awards have been running for the past nine years.
To obtain a silver reward, 5% of a company’s staff must be donors – the Trust comfortably met this target with 538 employees contributing to charities directly from their salary.
Southern Trust Interim Chief Executive Development, Paula Clarke said: “The Payroll Giving Quality Mark demonstrates this organisation’s commitment to Payroll Giving and corporate social responsibility.
“Payroll Giving in Action have been visiting our facilities and attending our Corporate Induction and Corporate Mandatory Training Days, providing staff with an opportunity to sign up and donate to a charity of their choice whilst promoting the Trust Charity of the Year.
“This silver award shows fantastic charitable generosity from our employees and is a satisfying achievement, considering we are the only Health Trust in the UK to have been recognised for Payroll Giving.
“Our staff have also given tremendous support to the Southern Area Hospice as our Charity of the Year over the past two years – raising a total amount of £62,478 for this fantastic charity.”
