St Patrick’s Day in Armagh to be broadcast live on Irish TV

Armagh’s St Patrick’s Day celebrations will be broadcast live to a global audience on Irish TV.

The broadcaster will show two hours of live footage from the city and will include highlights from other parades across Ireland and the UK.

Lord Mayor of Armagh Cathy Rafferty said: “As Lord Mayor, I am delighted that Irish TV will be putting Armagh on the map on St Patrick’s Day with a live broadcast spanning over two hours. This allows not only people across Ireland to join in Armagh’s celebrations but all those who have left our shores to travel or work abroad. ”

Irish TV presenter and Ulster director Malachi Cush said: “It has been a very exciting year for Irish TV as we have watched our programming and viewership grow since our launch in May 2014. We are extremely proud of all of our teams working tirelessly throughout this country and further afield to bring the viewer a flavour of real Ireland.

“We continue to be committed to bringing a local flavour to television screens across the country and I am particularly proud that Irish TV will broadcast Armagh’s St Patrick’s Day celebrations live for the first time in its long and very successful history.  This is a great opportunity to let people both at home and abroad enjoy what is one of the most anticipated and celebrated parades at the Ecclesiastical capital Armagh.”

Irish TV can be viewed on Sky channel 191, Freesat 400, eircom’s eVision 191, free to air boxes and online at www.irishtv.ie
