The funeral details have been announced following the passing of well-known Tandragee man Tony Murphy.
Tony, who was the beloved son of the late Peter and Brigid, was a familiar figure in the Co. Armagh town, often seen on Market Street in his distinctive blue boiler suit.
According to a death notice, he passed away yesterday (January 31).
His remains will repose in Quinn Bros. Funeral Home in Portadown tomorrow (Friday) from 3pm to 7pm.
He will be received into St Patrick’s Church, Ballyargan on Saturday at 5pm, before Requiem Mass on Sunday at 10am.
Interment afterwards will be in the adjoining cemetery.
In the wake of the sad news, dozens took to social media to pay tribute to a man who was truly a character in Tandragee.
One commenter said: “An absolute gentleman. Always time for a wee chat. Lovely Memories. RIP Tony.”
A second added: “So sorry to hear about Tony. Chatted to him a few times a week always smiling… Rest in peace Tony.”
Another said: “So so sad. He certainly was a great character and loved by everyone.”
