A Tandragee man who drove out of his driveway without looking and struck an oncoming car has been banned from the roads for six months.
Court heard the 20-year-old, who is originally from Latvia, told officers he had no licence and planned on returning to his home country next month.
Arturs Klimovic, of Castle Rise, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention and using a vehicle without insurance at Armagh Magistrates’ on Tuesday.
The court was told police were called to a road traffic collision at Castle Rise on August 1 at around 3.50pm involving a BMW and a Peugeot.
CCTV footage collected from a neighbouring house showed the defendant drive out of his drive without looking and colliding with the BMW.
When spoken to by police Klimovic stated he had no licence and that he planned on returning to Latvia in September.
During interview, the defendant accepted his driving was below the standard expected and that he had no insurance for the car.
Klimovic was disqualified from driving for six months and ordered to pay a fine of £400, along with the offender’s levy of £15, within 16 weeks.
