A Tandragee man who faces charges of common assault and possession of an offensive weapon must wait until next month to learn his fate.
A district judge stated that as this was a “domestic incident” a pre-sentence report would have to be prepared before the 43-year-old was sentenced.
James William Neill, 43, of Laurel Heights, pleaded guilty to common assault, possession of an offensive weapon and criminal damage at Armagh Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
Charges including assault occasioning actual bodily harm, threats to kill and a second criminal damage which referred to a school uniform were withdrawn by the prosecution.
The item which Neill admitted to damaging was a mobile phone and the weapon referred to in the charges was a kitchen knife.
District Judge Peter Magill stated: “This appears to have taken place in a domestic setting and I will require a pre-sentence report.”
He warned the defendant: “That does not give any indication as to how I am going to deal with this; it is in your interest to attend with probation.”
The case will return on April 9 for sentencing.
