A suspected drink driver, who wrote off their car following a crash in the middle of Tandragee, was arrested for failing to provide a breath sample.
Officers received an emergency call sent from a vehicle advising it had been involved in a collision within the vicinity of Church Street in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Upon arrival, police located the driver who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
The requirement was put to the driver to provide a specimen of breath.
A police spokesperson said: “The driver then didn’t feel quite as enthusiastic about assisting police with their enquires and failed to provide a specimen of breath.
“The driver was subsequently arrested for failing to provide a preliminary specimen of breath and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs.
“Once again, whilst at custody the driver then failed to provide an evidential specimen of breath, so was further arrested.
“The driver will now have their day in court.
“Thankfully on this occasion no one was injured, but when you take risks on our roads such as this it can unfortunately end up a different story.
“We cannot stress enough! Never EVER drink and drive! Could you live with the shame of injuring or killing another road user or pedestrian?
“We continue to conduct proactive patrols, spotting drink drivers on our roads and conducting vehicle checkpoints to assist in keeping our roads a safer place for everyone.”
