A Tandragee man who was caught over twice the legal drink-drive limit has been handed a 12-month ban.
Court heard the 51-year-old, who had a clear licence, was detected due to his erratic driving including travelling a distance of over 100 metres with his indicator on.
Keith Hanlon, of Knightsbridge, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
Court heard that on March 24, at around midnight, police were contacted about a Citroen C4 being drive erratically at Mahon Court, Portadown.
At one point the vehicle was seen driving with its left indicator on for 100 metres.
Officers stopped the car and detected a strong smell of intoxicating liquor.
Hanlon, who was the driver, submitted to a preliminary breath test which resulted in a fail.
He was subsequently taken to Lurgan Custody Suite where a reading of 90mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath was taken.
The defendant, who represented himself in court, stated: “I’ve a clear licence and this is the first time I have been before a court.”
Hanlon was disqualified for 12 months and ordered to pay a fine of £250, along with the offender’s levy of £15, within eight weeks.
