A Co. Armagh woman has raised £2,100 for the Southern Area Hospice after taking part in a charity skydive.
Judith Hazley, from Tandragee, has taken part in a number of charity fundraisers over the years, finally deciding to add a skydive to her portfolio.
Just some of Judith’s previous charity endeavours were an abseil for the Make a Wish Foundation, a zipline for Macmillan Cancer Support and ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ for the Cancer Fund for Children, with the latter raising just under £2,000.
She made the leap of faith in the skies above Garvagh on October 28 in what she has described as an “amazing” experience.
She told Armagh I: “I have always wanted to do a skydive but never had the courage to sign up to it. After a bit of encouragement from friends last year I finally took the plunge and signed up.
“I said before I did it I would never do another one but the experience was amazing. I would definitely do another one. I really couldn’t explain the experience to anyone, it’s just so breath-taking. It really is something you need to experience for yourself to get the amazement of it.”
She added: “Over the years I have took part in different events for charity including abseiling, ziplining and even Strictly Comes Dancing, so a skydive was always on the list. As Southern Area Hospice is a charity very close to my heart I knew immediately I wanted to raise money for it.
“As the Southern Area Hospice provide all their services free of charge, they rely heavily on fundraising to be able to care for patients and their families.
“I know a lot of people have been in care here so it was my time to repay them!”
