Taxi firms ‘must be kept in Giro loop’ says city councillor

Sinn Féin councillor Cathy Rafferty has ensured that local taxi firms are made aware of the road closures made necessary by the Giro d’Italia which goes through the district on Sunday.

Following the request for information from taxi drivers Councillor Rafferty ensured that Armagh Council officials made contact with them to convey all the relevant information.

Cllr Rafferty said: “Taxi drivers in the city were unsure as to what roads would be closed and for how long so I arranged that council staff would provide information packs containing all of the details.

“I wish to thank Armagh council officials for creating these packs and distributing them to the taxi drivers. Information is also in all local media but if anyone has any doubts they can contact Armagh Sinn Féin office on 028 37 511797.

“I hope that everybody enjoys the Giro celebrations in Armagh and I wish all the competitors well.  I know that community groups and schools have put a huge effort into this and the street decoration is a credit to them.”
