Three men were convicted at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court today, Tuesday, for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.
Conor Campbell (21) of Ballynamoney Road, Lurgan claimed Jobseekers Allowance totalling £129 while failing to declare employment. He was fined £150, ordered to pay a defendants levy of £15 and court costs of £31.
Kevin McShane (33) of Rossnagalliagh, Londonderry was given an 18 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay court costs of £48 for wrongful encashment of Jobseekers Allowance totalling £513.
Both are also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
John Speers (46) of Oakgrove, Portadown claimed Jobseekers Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £20,335 while failing to declare capital. He was given an 18 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay court costs of £68.
Mr Speers has repaid in full the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
