Danny Kennedy, Ulster Unionist MLA for Newry and Armagh, has expressed his disappointment that Irish Tricolours remain flying at Bessbrook Pond.
Mr Kennedy said: “I am disappointed that the Tricolours were put up at Bessbrook Pond. This action was deliberately designed to harm community relations in the village.
“I believe this is an attempt by some malign and misguided individuals to create community tension in the area, but the people of Bessbrook are much too sensible to allow that to happen.
“Whilst I welcome Sinn Fein’s statement calling for their removal, the flags remain. I hope that this can be addressed very soon.”
