Police in Lurgan have arrested two teenagers following the recovery of a stolen dumper truck.
At 4.43am on Monday, March 31, police received a report of a dumper truck being driven along a country road with no lights on. Officers were immediately dispatched from Lurgan and Portadown and the truck, which had been taken from Lough Road Filling Station at around 3.45am, was located in a field off Annesborough Road.
Two males, aged 14 and 19 years old, were located close by and arrested.
Inspector Ken Annett, Portadown Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Thanks to the close co-operation between police and the public, we were able to recover an expensive piece of equipment and arrest two suspects. This shows just what we can achieve when suspicious activity is reported to us immediately.
“I would like to thank those who contacted us and helped us locate the stolen truck and also the owner of the property. We are committed to reducing the theft of plant equipment and would reinforce our message to the public to report any suspicious activity immediately on the 101 non-emergency number or 999 in an emergency.”
