Police in Armagh are urging the public to be vigilant of vehicle thefts.
Over the last few months a number of thefts from cars have taken place in the Drumadd, Folly, Gough and town centre areas. Police have launched an anti-crime operation to prevent and detect car crime and to educate motorists about vehicle security.
Sergeant Allen Beattie, Armagh Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We will be targeting areas where vehicle crime has taken place. Where we find cars that have been left insecure or with valuables on display, we will contact the last registered owner and make them aware of steps they can take to reduce their chance of becoming a victim of crime.
“We are also asking the public to help us find those responsible for these thefts. You know your own area best so if you notice something that doesn’t look right or seems out of place, please phone us straight away. Our opportunities for bringing charges and gathering evidence increases considerably when we can respond to incidents as they happen.
“We can be contacted on the 101 non-emergency number of 999 in an emergency.”
Please remember to lock the windows and doors on your vehicle when you leave it unattended and remove all valuables from sight.
