Slieve Gullion Sinn Féin Councillor Mickey Larkin has welcomed the starting of resurfacing in Mullaghbawn.
“Having lobbied the Roads Service for months on the need to upgrade the road from Mullaghbawn to Forkhill it is great to see the work has begun,” he said.
“This much needed scheme will be carried out in three stages, the first being within the 30mph zone in Mullaghbawn itself.
“The second stage will see the Forkhill Road, Mullaghbawn, resurfaced and the final stage will be the Church Road, Forkhill.
“I would ask the residents of the area to be patient whilst this work continues as there will be traffic controls in place. There are other roads in the area that need resurfaced and I will continue to liaise with the Department with a view to progressing work on them.”
