The death has occurred of Arthur Downey (Banbridge)

Downey, (Ballyvally House, 27 Dromore Road, Banbridge), May 8, 2021, passed away (peacefully) at home surrounded by his loving family. Arthur John, R.I.P, eldest son of Mena Downey and the late Desmond Downey.

Arthur spent his early years in Rathfriland and grew up in Banbridge. Arthur was educated in Saint Colman’s College, Newry and was part of a Mac Rory and Hogan winning team.

Arthur read law at Queens University Belfast and graduated 1975. He qualified as a Solicitor in 1978 and went on to set up Arthur J. Downey and Co. Solicitors in 1981, where he was a principal until his retirement in 2018. He continued to be a presiding Chairman of Tribunals until his untimely death.

He met his beloved wife Colette in 1974 and they married in 1978. Arthur is father of Desmond, Rory, Arthur, Gareth, Declan and Cormac and father-in-law of Clíodhna and Ollie.

Deeply regretted by the entire Downey Family and all of those whose hearts he has touched.

Requiem Mass can be viewed HERE from St. Patricks Church, Banbridge on Tuesday May 11, at 12 noon followed by cremation at Roselawn Crematorium, Belfast.
