It may be an unusual time to start your own business but that has not stopped one Armagh estate agent from taking the plunge.
Redian Real Estate may be a new name to all, but owner Ryan Molloy will certainly be a familiar face, having worked as Branch Manager of a local Estate Agency in the city for the past seven years.
The 2015 Young Agent of the Year finalist has made the decision to go out on his own aged just 29.
Speaking to Armagh I, Ryan said: “I had been thinking about opening my own estate agents for a couple of years now and then I just decided to bite the bullet.
“Property management opportunities crossed my path prior to launching Redian Real Estate which encouraged me to make my decision imminently.”
Like all of us Ryan could not have foreseen the Covid-19 pandemic, but remains positive.
He added: “I feel this is a health pandemic and not a property recession as the demand for renting properties still out-weighs supply and sales inquires are dramatically improving each day.
“Even though I am only launching my company now, I have been busy. This is extremely positive for me and the support I have received from local business men and women has been fantastic.”
“It is not as if I am starting from scratch, I am known as an estate agent in the city and one with a good reputation, so I have not had to build that up.”
Ryan said that it had always been a dream of his to work for himself and he decided he was ready for the next step.
“It was always at the back of my mind,” he explained. “I just thought with the future, perhaps with children or other commitments, I might not be able to put 100% focus and time into the business.”
He admitted that although he did not go into real estate believing it would be his career for life, he has gone on to develop a real passion for the job.
One stand out portion of Ryan’s new venture is his plethora of overseas properties, which he said was almost unheard of for a new business.
Ryan says that previous connections he has made over the years will be key to his success going forward.
He has been working from home, getting ready for the launch, but the business will be taking up residence on the Newry Road in Armagh.
Ryan said: “There are some young people going out on their own in Armagh, but very little. It is something I want to promote, I want to encourage them. They may be doing well for their employer but be fearful and lack the confidence of starting out on their own.
“I want to set the example that young people can do this. There perhaps needs to be more incentives there as they will be Armagh’s employers of the future.
“But the support is definitely there, I have had plenty of calls from local business people speaking of how great it is that I have gone on my own and saying they are right behind me.”
Redian Real Estate handles sales and letting of both commercial and residential properties. They also offer property management along with mortgage and insurance advice.
