ARMAGH is gearing up to host the All-Ireland Road Bowls Final on August 3 and 4.
The event will be held on the Blackwatertown Road and facilitated by An Port Mor Road Bowls Club.
“The whole community will be looking forward to a great spectacle when the Armagh finalists, who have been slogging it out over the last month to gain their place in the final, take on their mighty opponents from Cork,” said local Sinn Fein Councillor Gerard Paul White.
“This event is expected to attract crowds of well over a thousand people, which will be a great boost to the local economy. I have spoken to people involved in the hospitality trade and they are looking forward to a brisk weekend both in terms of bed occupancy and associated trade.
“I would like to thank Armagh Council for their work to date with the sweeping of the road, and also the work Roads Service has carried out to date cutting hedges and grass verges. I have asked them to do a final clean this week in preparation for the finals.
“Finally I would like to say to all involved, enjoy the weekend as its is a great road to throw on and good luck to the Armagh clubs finalists.”
