Camlough Lake work WILL be completed ahead of Crooked Lake Triathlon

Work on Camlough Lake will be completed ahead of the nationally acclaimed Crooked Lake Triathlon in June.

Contractors working on site at the lake say they are confident that they will be completed their works well in advance of the event that attracts thousands of competitors and spectators.

At a recent meeting of the Camlough Lake Task and Finish Group, members were given an update on the progress of work to date on the site.

Councillor Roisin Mulgrew said: “This is a fantastic project and I am delighted that the contractors are confident that the work will be completed well ahead of the 2017 tri-Athlon in June.

“The visible dam structure has been clad with stone all recovered from the site which has helped to control costs and looks fabulous.

“Furthermore  a suggestion has been put to the committee that it may be possible to install a piece of artwork which will further enhance the finished product and relate to the history of this magnificent lake.

“All of the Camlough Lake user groups are to be commended for the way they have promoted and utilised this fantastic amenity, their input on all developments to date as well into the future is crucial.”
