A NUMBER of Armagh City old boys will return to Holm Park this Saturday when Annagh United are the visitors.
And both teams will be in buoyant mood after victories at the weekend – with City overcoming the challenge of Moyola by 2-1 and Annagh defeating Glebe Rangers 1-0. United will be led in the Belfast Telegraph Championship Two encounter by former City striker Dean Smith, now manager of the Portadown-based club.
Other old boys in their squad include forward Shea Campbell and defenders Alan Murphy, Iain Latimer and Richard Nesbitt, along with ex-Loughgall stalwart Darragh Peden.
There is always a real derby feel to this fixture and no quarter will be asked for, or given, by either side.
Unbeaten City currently lead the championship after compiling five wins and a draw, while Annagh have struck improved form in recent matches.
On Saturday last, however, Armagh lost the services of influential midfielder Eamon Kelly with a serious rib injury and, by all accounts, he will not play again for some time.
But, despite this loss, City will be buoyed by the fantastic form of flying forward Gareth Grimley who added another two goals to his tally at the weekend, having hit a record-breaking six goals in his previous game against Dungannon Swifts Reserves.
With fellow striker Stephen Murray also finding the net in recent weeks and Matthew Hynds getting scores from midfield, Armagh should prove a hot handful on Saturday.
They will certainly test the experienced United defence but Peden and Murphy will prove tough opponents.
