Armagh are the 2024 All-Ireland champions.
Twenty-two years on from their maiden title, Armagh will bring the Sam Maguire back to the Orchard County.
In a nerve-wracking and titanic tussle against Galway, it was a goal from All-Star contender Aaron McKay early in the second half which swung the game in Armagh’s favour.
Final Score: Armagh 1-11 Galway 0-13
Armagh man and GAA President Jarlath Burns, teary eyed, celebrated with his son Jarly Óg, who ended the game with the ball in his hands.
The President, in his first year, handed the trophy over to Aidan Forker who delivered a rousing speech, payying tribute to the management team, but especially Kieran McGeeney.
“This win today would not have happened if Geezer hadn’t returned 10 years ago. Thank you Geezer,” he said.
Also speaking after the game, Armagh’s Rory Grugan, said: “It’s 10 years of work for so many people. The boys came off the bench to win it for us. Trust in what we are doing, trust in the management. We believed in what we were doing.”
