Senior Men
Our senior men continue to train every Tuesday and Thursday evening in preparation for the upcoming season. Training on Tuesday takes place at 7.15pm at the club with the Thursday sessions taking place in St Paul’s gym. The league campaign is scheduled to start on Sunday 12th April with an away game against Clan na Gael with the same two teams meeting in the Championship on Saturday 9th May in Granemore.
Senior, Minor & U16 Ladies Training
A strength and conditioning training programme for the above ladies teams continues every Tuesday evening from 6.45pm – 7.45pm and Friday evening at 7.15pm, finishing on Friday, 13th March. Each session will cost £3.00 per person and is also open to all family and friends should they wish to attend. U14 girls who plan to play U16 football do not need to attend these sessions but can do so if they wish.
Minor Boys
All minor boys are asked to note that they should all be attending training on Tuesday and Thursday evenings to take part in pre-season training along with the seniors. All eligible players are asked to get involved in these training sessions – no excuses.
U16 Boys
Our U16 boys continue to train every Sunday morning at 10.30am at the club.
U14 Girls:
The U14s girls are now training evening Wednesday evening, at 7.00pm in Bessbrook Community Centre. This is for girls born in 2001 or after and new members are very welcome. For further information pleased contact Keith on 07920887169.
U12 Girls
Training for our U12 girls began on Saturday morning under the watchful eyes of some of our senior ladies and it was great to see a lot of girls from the Gaelic for Girls programme returning to continue training. Training will continue every Saturday morning at 11.00am at the club and all girls at this age group are asked to attend.
U10s
Training for our U10 footballers continue to train on Friday evenings in Cloughreagh Community Centre from 7.30pm – 8.30pm. All boys and girls at this age group are welcome and encouraged to attend.
U8s
Our U8 footballers also continue to train every Friday evening in Cloughreagh Community Centre from 6.30pm – 7.30pm. All boys and girls at this age group are welcome and encouraged to attend.
U6s
Training for our U6s continues every Wednesday evening in Bessbrook Community Centre from 6.00pm – 7.00pm. All boys and girls at this age group are welcome and encouraged to attend. It’s great to see a number of new faces over the past few weeks and as a result Michelle is looking for a bit of extra help on Wednesday evenings. Underage Managers
There are still a couple of underage managers positions to be filled at U14 and U12 boys and anyone interested in taking on any of these roles is asked to contact the club youth officer Seamie O’Hare on 07816 268077.

Club membership is now due for renewal and the rates have been set as follows:

Membership can be paid to Kevin McGeeney, Gerry Barry, Mick Mackin or any committee member. We are also planning to call at members homes throughout February and March, so put your membership fee aside. Anyone who has let their membership lapse over the past few years is also urged to renew it.
First Aid Course
The club is organising a First Aid course for underage managers and mentors from both boys and girls football and it is hoped that there will be at least one representative from every age group in attendance. Armagh Goldmark
GoldMark is a dynamic programme aimed at promoting and recognising sports volunteering for 14 to 24 year olds and a workshop will take place on Monday 23rd February at 7.20pm in the Athletic Grounds. The GoldMark Scheme is run by Volunteer Now and recognises three levels of volunteering 50 hours, 100 hours and 200 hours. This initiative is recognised by Department of Education and will help young volunteers on CVs and college applications. This workshop will provide information for young volunteers and their clubs on the benefits of the programme and how they can become involved in the programme. Anyone who is interested in registering for this workshop is asked to contact Peter McKeown on 07933 931429.
Lotto
Last week’s winning lotto numbers were 4, 22, 26 & 29. There were no jackpot winners and 1 x match three winner. The jackpot now stands at £2200. Club Bar
The club bar is now open every Friday and Saturday night from 7.00pm and everyone is welcome to come along to enjoy a good night’s craic with music, darts and pool available. Cúchulainn CLG, An Mullach Bán
SCÓR NA NÓG ALL-IRELAND
On Saturday February 14th, 76 supporters from Cu Chulainn CLG made the journey to the 4000-seater Dublin City West to the All-Ireland Final of Scór na nÓg to support our Solo Singing star; Moya Strain. The event was covered by Irish TV. Unfortunately the result was not in favour of Moya; however, what a year it has been for her, securing county and provincial titles. A bright future is on the cards. The club provided a very warm welcome to Moya on February 15th when local people showed their appreciation for her amazing achievements. Commiserations to the two other acts from South Armagh clubs in the All-Ireland final; Cullyhanna Leiriu and Silverbridge Quiz team whose completion was run in the morning. It has been great to share this journey with you.
DINNER DANCE
Annual Dinner Dance, hosted by Benny Tierney will take place on Friday, February 27th in the clubrooms. Buffet dinner @8pm followed by music with ‘Keep er’ Country.’ Tickets cost £15 and places must be booked prior to the night by contacting any committee member.
INTERMEDIATE CHAMPIONSHIP
The Senior Team will take on An Port Mor in the first round of the championship on Sunday, May 10th @2pm in Keady.
INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE
Mullaghbawn will start their league campaign on Sunday April 12th with a repeat of last year’s opener. The boys will travel to our neighbours Silverbrige. The following Sunday will see us make the trip to Shane O’Neills, before taking on Culloville at home in Game Week 3.

SCÓR FUNDRAISER
Thanks to all of the fabulous acts who performed in the recent Mullaghbawn Scór Fundraiser on February 8th. There was an eclectic mix of music, song, dance & drama in the showpiece event. The London Tube station sensations, Mullaghbawn Instrumental Group, Cullhanna leiriu, Michelle McCloskey, Cupla, Finbar Magee, Mullaghbawn Dancers, Gareth O’Connor (Ulster champion dancer), The Kelly and Ridley families. The club wishes to extend it most sincere thanks to all of the acts who gave so generously of their time and to Tí Chulainn, Whitecross GAA, Cullyhanna GAA, McCreeshes & Julias who gave money and items for the raffle. Also, a huge word of mention to our cultural officer Fergal O’Brien and his assistant Thomas Kelly for co-ordinating events. Finally many thanks to the Mullaghbawn public. Scór na nÓg
The big day for our young dramatists arrived arrived last Saturday afternoon in the CityWest, Dublin as they participated in the Leiriú section of the All Ireland Scór na nÓg final. As always, this fantastic group produced a remarkable performance but unfortunately they had to settle for their Ulster title and final participation. However all at the club are still rightfully proud of what has been a magnificent voyage in reaching a second All Ireland Scór na nÓg final in three years. The talented group of Mary Donnelly, Diarmuid Brecknell, Oran Murray, Colum Donnelly and Dermot Savage have represented our club with great distinction. Huge credit is also due to their mentors Margaret and Bernie Donnelly, Karen Murray and Marie Hoey, without whom none of this will be possible. No doubt they will all be back in 2016 and perhaps they can go one step further! Well done to Moya Strain of Mullaghban and the Silverbridge quiz team who also participated in the All Ireland final.
Dinner dance
The countdown is very much on for our annual club dinner dance which is always a hugely enjoyable occasion with a great night of food and craic in store. The big night is this coming Saturday 21st February and tickets for the buffet dinner are on sale in the club and Murphy’s Shop, priced £15 / €20. Please make every effort to purchase a ticket before Thursday to facilitate catering arrangements. Music will be by Michael Kennedy.
Malachy Murdock Memorial Tournament
Our seniors return to action on Friday night as they participate in the Malachy Murdock tournament in Burren, county Down. Our first match is against the host club and throws in at 8pm.
Gym
Thanks to a huge effort by all involved, particular our senior players, the new refurbished gym is open for business with a superb selection of fitness equipment. To ensure equitable access to this superb modern facility, use of the gym will be restricted to club members only. Members must pay a £20 gym supplement for use of the gym in addition to membership fees. This £20 supplement covers gym use for an entire year and represents magnificent value for our members when compared with commercial gyms. Use of the gym will be regularly monitored to ensure that those who have contributed towards it get the best out of the facility. Underage Registration
Our underage registration evening is on the Friday 20th February at 7.30pm. Membership fees for juveniles should be paid at this event and cost £5 for juveniles from under 8 to minor level. This membership fee is compulsory and no young player will be allowed to play for a club team unless they have registered and paid. We would strongly encourage the parents of our underage players to show support for their children and the club by becoming members also.
Coaching Courses
Can anyone who is interested in doing the either the Foundation Level or Level 1 coaching courses please contact Conor McAneney on 07985 110960? We are hoping to get sufficient numbers to be able to run these courses within the club.

Our club shop is back up and running for 2015 on Monday and Friday evenings from 7pm to 9pm. A range of merchandise is available and we will be launching a number of new and exciting initiatives over the course of the year.

Membership is now due with costs frozen at 2014 rates- £20 for adults, £10 for students and OAPs and £5 for juveniles with Cairde members entitled to 2 adult members and two juvenile or student memberships. Membership is free for children under 6.

PUNTERS LEAGUE- There were a total of 24 points available in Round 2 of the Punters League. A number of punters fought for the weekly prize with four achieving a gallant 19 points. The winner of Round 2 though was Jerome Kearney with a superb 20 points!

Crossmaglen Rangers GFC
The club was a hive of activity this week with the final Under Age Registration Night the Pancake Breakfast and the Mc Rory Cup quarterfinal. A sincere word of thanks to all who helped out in organising and helped steward these events. In particular our grounds men who put in a lot of work to have the place in top shape.
Trading Places
One of our players Aaron Kernan has been asked to participate in this very popular television programme. Aaron’s involvement will entail going to Sunderland for four days selling houses and also training at Sunderland Football in return David Bentley will spend four days in Crossmaglen in Aaron’s business and will also train with the team. It will be exciting times around the club with television crew in attendance. Our participation will be a great boost for our sponsors as it will give them valuable publicity.
Dr. Pat Fee Scanner Appeal
The club are organising a dance in Rangers Hall on Saturday 7th March in aid of the above appeal music will be by our own John Glenn and admission is £10. Over the years Dr. Pat has played an important role not only in the life of the parish but of our club as well with many players with many of our players benefitting from his dedicating and expertise. We would ask our members players and general public to come along and support this worthy cause while at the same time have a great nights entertainment dancing to the music of John Glenn.
Field Signs
With the new football season almost upon us now is the time is the time to advertise your business while at the same time supporting your club. To have your sign placed around the main field please contact any member of the committee. Signs will cost £130 per year or £300 for three years.
Bingo Night
Our Bingo Night Fundraiser will take place on Friday 20th February; the venue once again is the Bar One Bingo Hall Racecourse Rd. Dundalk. Tickets costing €20 can be purchased from any member of the committee. Last year’s event proved to be a great social success so while not come along and have a great night’s fun while at the same time supporting your club.

Club Gym.
We are pleased to announce the opening of our new member’s gym. This facility has been designed for our member’s health and wellbeing. The new gym will be accessed by a key fob which can be purchased from Aaron Kernan. Yearly membership until the 31st December 2015 are as follows U 16 free, U 18 £10, Over 18 £20. It is important to note that only members can use the facility but membership is open to everyone. The only entrance to the Gym is by the front Door of the Rangers Hall and up the front stairs.
Walking Track
The new walking track at the club is now for members to use. However it must be stressed that dogs are not permitted on any part of the club premises at any time including council pitches and walking track. Those using the walking track are asked to ensure that they close all gates behind them to keep all stray dogs out. If these arrangements are not adhered to we will have no option but to lock all gates and restrict the use of the track to specify times where users can be supervised. We cannot permit the continued dog fouling to continue any longer. The club would like to thank Gene Duffy, Eugene Hanratty Blarney Rd. Cairde Raonaithe Na Croise
Our club provides facilities for twenty four teams. In order to meet increased demand and provide facilities which our young people and members deserve the club are embarking on the second phase of our development programme. In order to do so the club must raise a large amount of money. Members can help out by joining Raonaithe Na Croise and agreeing to donate £20 per month for three years. By pledging your support you will be helping your club meet the challenge of the future. Some members 3yrs have now been completed and over the next few weeks we will be contacting all our members with a view to becoming members or renewing membership. In the next few week we will be producing a detailed report showing we were able to raise additional funding and wha t good use we put it to.
Lotto
The Lotto provides much needed funds for the day to day running of the club and we would ask our members for their support. Tickets cost £1 and can be purchased from any member of the committee or in the local shops and bars. If you feel you can help out by selling tickets please contact any member of the committee. As ALL players must be registered for insurance purposes, parents or guardians of any child wishing to play underage football must attend and complete their child’s registration. A fee of £5 per child is payable to cover the club’s players’ registration fees to Croke Park.
Underage Presentations: The Presentation Night for the 2014 Gaelic Go Start, Under 8 and Under 10s will take place in the clubrooms on Friday 20th February at 7.30pm. We are delighted that three of our senior players – Mairead Tennyson, Annie McCole and Peter Carragher – will be on hand to present prizes on the night.
Scór: The Armagh county final of Scór Sinsear will take place this Sunday 22nd February in Killeavy GFC at 6pm. The club’s participation is being organized by Cultural Officer John Muckian who can be contacted on 0780 1254 774 or email jmuckiansilverbridge@gmail.com. Commiserations to our Scór na nÓg quiz team who gave an excellent account of themselves in the All Ireland final on Saturday in Dublin but unfortunately came up just short.

Young Volunteers Skills Building Programme: The Youth Club, in partnership with St Oliver Plunkett Youth Club, Crossmaglen, is hosting a Young Volunteers Skills Building Programme, aimed at young people age 13 and over, every Thursday 7-9pm in the Resource Centre (Games Room). It offers participants the opportunity to learn a range of skills and confidence-building activities and those who successfully complete the programme will receive the Millennium Volunteers Award.
Membership for 2015 is now open priced at: adults £30, over-65’s £10 and students £5. Membership Officer Mary McCann will be available to process applications every Monday in the Wee Bar from 8-9.30pm.

This match was played on a cold, dry Sunday afternoon with the roar of airplanes flying low along the horizon. Sarsfields started brightly and raced to a 4-1 lead with thanks to the Stevenson forwards, however with poor defending, St James’ star forward Ronan Hanna got through for an early goal to give the home team an early lead. Following a good pass from Paul McGeown, Thomas McAlinden returned a goal and a point to leave half time score with Hoops men ahead in a low scoring 30 minutes with the scoreboard reading 1-5 to 1-3.
Johnny Reynolds opened the scoring with two frees early in the second half for the High Moss men. This lead to a period of dominance by the Aldergrove men playing with the wind in the second 30 minutes; two points from play followed by another Ronan Hanna goal to put the home side ahead 2-6 to 1-8. A point each was exchanged from both sides before Paul McGeown managed a second goal for the Armagh side. Two more points from play for Aldergrove led both sides into an exciting drawn score in the last five minutes of play. It was down to Sarsfields’ captain Eamon McGeown to score the winning point to give Sarsfields their third Ulster league win, placing them two points clear at the top of the Group A category. Sarsfields play their next game this Sunday against Ardboe; venue to be confirmed.
