Craobh Rua Hurling Club
Successful Underage Hurling Presentation Night
The Craobh Rua Camlocha Hurling Club hosted their annual Underage Presentation Celebration Night on Friday [1]. Guest of honour was Ryan Cinnamond who delivered an inspirational speech to the large attendance which included young hurlers, their parents and families, Team Mentors, Senior Hurlers, Club Officers and mentors.
Ryan likened the work and training that he is doing with his new legs, to that of a young boy or girl learning the new skills needed for hurling. Craobh Rua Hurling Club would like to thank Ryan not only for his attendance at our special night but for his great example to others and we wish him well in all his endeavours.
The Richard Hughes Memorial Award which incidentally is the only juvenile award we have in our Club was presented by Kevin Hughes and Ryan Cinnamond to Kevin Doyle with Teresa and DJ his proud parents present as was St Joseph’s Primary School represented by Finnoula Bradley.

Michael McCreesh RIP
The sad death of our Club Vice-President Michael McCreesh, Dundalk Road sees the passing of one of those stalwart committee men who contributed so much to the development of the infrastructure of the Cullyhanna G.A.A. club and helped in no small way to leave it in the excellent and modern state that it finds itself today. Very much believing in the ideal that it was the duty of members of the community to offer their help to any local parish enterprise Michael became involved with the committee in the early 1980s at the time when planning was beginning for the purchase and development of the present field. He soon got involved in the financial structures of the club, not a job for the faint hearted as money was more than scarce and the development of new grounds was a very costly business. Using his shrewd financial acumen and unrivalled contacts in the business world Michael was a great help in keeping the club solvent and also making sure that any work that was carried out was done to the best advantage of the club.
Down the years it had been the fervent dream of club members to own its own playing field and it was the dedication and commitment of men like Michael that this dream was realised and no man in Ireland was prouder on that summer day in 1988 when the dream was realised and the new field was officially opened. Of course having the field was only the beginning of the modern development and following on many great things were achieved in developing clubrooms and other much needed facilities. In all these important improvements Michael and his family were intimately involved and always ready to offer advice and help on any occasion it was sought. Although in poor health in recent times Michael kept a lively interest in the progress of the club and was delighted to see the advances of the club both on and off the field.
To his wife Mary, sons John and Liam, daughters Mary and Breda, grandchildren, brothers, sisters and the large McCreesh family circle the club offers its deepest sympathy on their sad and irreplaceable loss.
Scór Na nÓg
Another fantastic night for Scór na nÓg in our club was enjoyed in Whitecross last Friday night. Our talented performers in the quiz, recitation, ballad group and novelty act sections all qualified for the county final on what was a wonderful evening of success for Scór in Cullyhanna. We wish them all the very best in the county final in Killeavy at 5pm on Saturday 29th November. Hopefully there will be a good crowd from Cullyhanna in attendance to give them the support they deserve.

The 2014 AGM takes place on Sunday 7th December. This is an important event in the club calendar and we hope that as many of our members as possible will make an effort to attend.
Underage Presentations
The main presentation for all the underage camogie teams, Scór na nÓg and the under 10 to under 16 girls’ and boys’ football will be held in the clubrooms on Friday 28th November starting at 7pm sharp.

The camogie AGM will take place at 6pm on Sunday 30th November.

The club shop continues to open on Friday nights from 7pm to 9pm with Cullyhanna jerseys for sale in all sizes from 2 years to XL adults, as well as the usual great range of merchandise.
Thomas Williams – 1964 Junior Champions
A momentous occasion in the history of Cullyhanna football will be commemorated later this month as a special reception takes place in the club on Saturday 29th November at 8 30pm to recognise our 1964 Junior Championship team on the 50th anniversary of their victory. This was of course was Cullyhanna’s first ever adult championship and we look forward with pride to hosting those who were involved. A complimentary Buffet supper will be served. This promises to be a night of great entertainment and nostalgia and we welcome all family, friends and members of the 1964 heroes, as well as the community at large.

Minor Girls
Our minor girls were in action in the Ulster championship on Sunday afternoon against Tyrone side St Macartans in Augher and they put in a great display to claim the win by twenty-three points, 6 – 18 to 1- 10. The Shanes made a blistering start and had a total of 2 – 5 on the board before St Macartans registered their first point and midway through the first-half the Shanes led by eight points, 3 – 6 to 1 – 4. The Camlough side scored a further four points to take a healthy twelve point advantage into the half-time interval. Early scores in opening minutes of the second period saw the Shanes increase their lead to seventeen points but to their credit the St Macartans girls kept plugging away and fired over two quick fire points but the Shanes cancelled these out with a further goal and a point. The Tyrone side then notched up four points in a row but they were no match for the Shanes who finished the match in great fashion, scoring another 1 – 5 without reply to claim victory on a score-line of 6 – 18 to 1 – 10. The girls return to action on Sunday 7th December at 2.00pm with a home game in the semi-final of the Ulster championship against Monaghan champions Donaghmoyne. Training continues as normal this week.
Gaelic for Girls
Saturday morning saw the first session of the Gaelic for Girls programme with a total of forty-five girls from ages 8 – 12 taking part in what was a great morning’s fun. There are still places available for those wishing to join. The next session takes place next Saturday, 29th November from 11.00am to 12.30pm. The cost is £10.00 which includes a medal, t-shirt and certificate) and you can register by contacting Paul McArdle on 30889216 or (086) 8372082, or come along on Saturday morning. The programme continues for another seven weeks. 
U14 & U12½ Boys Presentation
The presentation night for our U14 and U12½ boys will take place in the club next Friday night, 28th November at 8.00pm. All boys who played at these age group during 2014 are asked to attend.

Training for our U10 footballers continues every Friday evening in Cloughreagh Community Centre from 7.30pm – 8.30pm. All boys and girls at this age group are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Well Done
Well done to all our prize winners at the Armagh Ladies presentation on Friday night. Aimee Mackin picked up the award for the Armagh Minor player of the year whilst Leah McKeown was awarded the Armagh U14 player of the year. Louise Kenny collected her Ulster Championship winners medal and accepted the Senior League Division 2 and Minor Championship trophies on behalf of the club. Everyone would like congratulate Aimee, Leah and Louise on their individual honours and to all our girls for their achievements throughout the year.

A Poker Night in aid of the senior men’s injured players fund will take place on Saturday 6th December at 8.00pm in the club bar – make sure to put the date in the calendar. More details regarding the entry fee, prizes, etc will be available soon

Last weeks winning lotto numbers were 1, 9, 19 & 21. There were no jackpot winners and 1 x match three winner. The jackpot now stands at £1600.
Condolences
The club would like to offer its sympathy to the family of Pat Taylor who died recently. Pat was the grandfather of our underage footballer Ruairi Taylor. Sympathy also to the family of Oliver Lonergan who died at the week-end and was a great friend and supporter of the club.

It’s that time of year again, the club’s Annual General Meeting. This year the meeting will be held in the club rooms on Monday the first of December at 7-30pm. The AGM gives members, players, supporters and parents a chance to reflect on the season that has passed and the one that is ahead. The club currently need new people to come on to the clubs committee and offer their time and opinions on the future of the club. The AGM is a chance for everyone to air their views so come along on Monday night and be part of your club.
Mass For Deceased Members
In association with Naoimh Mhuire Camogie Club, the club will be holding a mass for deceased members on Sunday Morning at 11-30am mass. This is a chance for members to pay respects to players and members that have passed away, remembering the work that they did throughout their lives helping making both clubs the clubs they are today. Members from both clubs will be taking part in the mass.

Commiserations to our two acts in the county Scór na nÓg semi-finals on Sunday evening in Maghery. Dáiríne McCaughley sang beautifully and was extremely unlucky in missing out on a place in the county final. She certainly did the club proud and we would like to thank Dáiríne for representing us. Go raibh maith agaibh to Odhrán, Matthew and Matthew who competed in the quiz as well, but just missed out by a few marks in a very low-scoring quiz, which reflected the level of difficulty. The boys will represent the club in the Armagh Scór na nÓg table quiz, which takes place on Sunday 7 December in the Athletic Grounds

The annual Wolfe Tone and St Enda’s presentation evening will take place at the club on Saturday 29 November. The presentations will take place in the bar and light refreshments will be served. Camogie4Mothers continues this Thursday between 7-8pm at Centrepoint Sports in Lurgan. New participants are very welcome and no experience is necessary. Equipment will be provided and a good night’s craic is guaranteed.
An Ghaeilge/Irish language
Beidh ciorcal comhrá nua ann do dhaltaí GCSE ag an chlub. The club will be running an Irish language conversation group for GCSE students starting on Monday 1 December at 7pm. The aim of the group is to help GCSE students with their spoken Irish and will focus on the subjects covered in the syllabus. Cuirfear fáilte roimh dhaltaí ón chlub agus ó chlubanna eile chomh maith. Students from other clubs are also welcome to attend.

The GAA National Club Draw is back with more prizes than last year and therefore more chances to win. Under Age Fundraiser
On Sunday 9th of November Cú Chulainn CLG played host to a truly amazing line up of young talent from Mullaghbawn and surrounding areas.
Ceili dancers, comprising Amy Murchan, Jennifer McAteer, Orla and Aislinn Reel, Aoibheann McCann, Maria Magee, Anna Byrne and Sarah Byrne, set the tone of the event with lively solo dances and a team dance.
Katie O’Brien was next up, an inspiration to every 6 year old, with her rendition of Baidín Fheilimí.
Katie was followed by Elaine O’Sullivan’s under12 Grúpa Ceoil who enchanted the audience with a beautiful arrangement.
Solo acts, including Moya Strain, Katie Donnelly and Thomas Muckian, commanded good order before Thomas was joined first by Míceal Muckian for a duet and then Niamh, Fionn Downey and Tomas O’Ceallaigh in the Instrumental group.
The second half started with the talented Sarah and Anna Byrne on harp and whistle followed by a brand new recitation composed by Pat McGeeney and performed by Laura Hughes on the theme of Ladies Football.
Aoife, Niamh and Tomás O’Ceallaigh gave a lovely set of tunes on their fiddles before Finbar Magee and Breige Quinn enchanted the audience with “Jimmy Crozier”, “My Belfast Love” and “Tullyvallen”, beautifully accompanied on fiddle.
Memories of the “Titanic Drums” event were evoked by Fionn Downey, Eamon O’Sullivan, Rene de Kat, Alana Flynn and Fergal O’Brien with a bodhrán piece, during which, Alana produced a stunning heavy shoed dance based on the piece’s rhythms, captivating the crowd. Titanic Drums has now over 33,500 hits on Youtube.
The evening ended with a highly polished performance from Cúpla comprising Emily Shields, Carol Hughes and Conor Murphy who have been receiving rave reviews following performances at Fiddlers Green, The Gig ‘n the Bann and Soma festivals. What an evening! Social networking sites have been busily conveying coverage of this event. Check out the Mullaghbawn club’s own website! The underage fundraiser clocked up a fabulous £2251 and ϵ 133. Thanks to the Mullaghbawn public for supporting this event so whole heartedly. Special thanks to Aidan Strain who gave a very generous donation towards this event and McCreesh’s for the raffle prizes. Acknowledgement is also due to Thomas Kelly for braving November weather to sell 300 tickets, the team on sandwiches and Pauline Shields for sponsoring the professional sound system.

Scór Na nÓg Results: Fionnuala Lennon (Solo Singing) has qualified to reach the Armagh County Final on Saturday 29 November in Killeavy at 5pm. Well done to the Ballad Group and Quiz team who both narrowly missed out tonight on places in the county final. Both teams gave great performances against tough opposition. Many thanks to Paula McStay and Sheenagh Smyth for all their work in promoting Junior Scór at the Club.

General Notes
Club Sarsfields is seeking new members to assist with meeting the costs of ongoing development works at the club. Members make a monthly contribution to the scheme with all contributions going towards ongoing club development. The target is to reach 100 members by the end of the year to allow development works to be completed. Please speak to any committee member or team manager who will provide further details

National Draw tickets are now on sale from any committee members costing £10. Sarsfields will receive all the funds from the ticket sales which will go directly to all football teams within the club.
