A huge thank you to all the managers and other volunteers who organised and accompanied some of our underage players firstly to St Brigid’s and then on to Ravenhill in Belfast last Saturday for the MND fundraiser ‘ Match for Anto’.It was a truly memorable day for all concerned.

Gaelic for Girls
The club is holding an eight week Gaelic for Girls programme for girls aged 8 – 12 years old. It all starts on Saturday 22nd November at the Shanes from 11.00am – 12.30pm and any young girls who want to have fun with fitness and football and make new friends along the way are all very welcome to attend. The cost of this eight week programme is only £10.00 and each participant will receive a certificate, a medal and a t-shirt on completion. Several of our volunteers have visited a number of local primary schools over the past number of weeks to promote the programme and the club would like to thank them for their co-operation.
Minor Girls
Best wishes to our minor girls who take on St Macartans from Tyrone in the Ulster club championship next Sunday, 23rd November in Augher. The club is running a supporters bus to the game at a cost of £5.00 per person and is encouraging as many people as possible to attend the game in their club colours to support the girls, especially underage players for other boys and girls teams. U16 Presentation
Saturday night saw our U16 boys and girls presentation in the club with senior county stars Mark Shields and Sharon Reel and our very own U21 county player Greg McCabe on hand to present the awards. The boys received their Division 2 league winners medals, whilst Matthew Girvan picked up the U16 player of the year award with Eoghan McQuade being presented with the most committed U16 player of the year. The girls received their championship runners-up medals with Caroline McMenamin claiming the U16 player of the year award and Leanne Lennon picking up the U16 most improved player of the year trophy. The presentation of the awards was followed by a disco. The club would like to thank all the U16 boys and girls for all their hard work and commitment throughout the year and a special word of thanks to all the managers and mentors for their efforts during 2014.

AGM
The club’s Annual General Meeting has been scheduled to take place on Sunday 30th November 2014 at 2.30pm. Anyone who has any interest in the club – current club members, past club members, current players, past players, underage parents etc – are invited to attend as the club prepares for another busy year.
Youth Meeting
The club would like to thank everyone who attended the youth meeting in the club on Tuesday night. The meeting itself proved to be very positive with a lot of issues discussed, including player numbers, team managers and mentors, school visits, fundraising ideas, parent engagement etc. Plans are now well underway for 2015 and it is hoped to keep momentum going over the coming weeks and months. If anyone is interested in helping out with any of our youth teams in any way please make contact with any of the club’s committee members.

Everyone at the club would like to extend their best wishes to our senior player Paddy Doran who is currently recovering from surgery on a back injury which kept him out of action for the entire 2014 season. We hope to see Paddy back in the number 6 jersey year.
Level One Youth/Adult Coaching Awards
A number of Level One Youth/Adult Coaching awards have been organised for the November and December for coaches in the club who currently hold the Foundation Award and want to move onto the next level. Course 1 will take place in the Athletic Grounds on 21st, 22nd, 28th & 29th November with Course 2 taking place on 28th, 29th November and 5th, December in Dromintee. The Friday sessions are indoor based and will run from 7.00pm – 10.00pm whilst the Saturday sessions are both indoor and outdoor sessions and run from 9.00am – 5.00pm. Condolences
It was with great sadness that the club learned of the death of Oliver Brannigan last week. Oliver, along with his late brother Jimmy, was instrumental in the reforming of the club back in the mid 1980s and served on the committee for several years. Everyone at the club would like to offer their sincerest sympathies to Oliver’s immediate family and his entire family circle.

Crossmaglen Rangers
As the on field activity winds down and with Christmas only a few weeks’ away clubs are entering the most important time of the year. It is in the month of December that most clubs hold their A. G. M. to elect their management committee for the coming year. While success may come on the field if takes a hard working committee to ensure that all the bits are in place to make it possible. To run any football club requires a huge amount of money to cover Insurance, Transport, and Equipment Maintenance Lighting Heating Football Coaching Injuries the list is ongoing and to meet these demands the club require a dedicated hard working to meet the challenge of the future. If you feel you can help out in any way why not come along to our A G M which will be held on Wednesday the 3rd of December in the Rangers Hall commencing at 7.30pm sharp.

Christmas Party Night
Our Christmas Party night will be held in the Rangers Hall on Saturday 13th December commencing @ 7. 00pm.This has always been a great party night and Business and supporters are advised to purchase their tickets early as there is a big demand for them.
Walking Track
The new walking track at the club is now for members to use. However it must be stressed that dogs are not permitted on any part of the club premises at any time including council pitches and walking track. Those using the walking track are asked to ensure that they close all gates behind them to keep all stray dogs out. If these arrangements are not adhered to we will have no option but to lock all gates and restrict the use of the track to specify times where users can be supervised. We cannot permit the continued dog fouling to continue any longer.

Cairde Raonaithe Na Croise
Our club provides facilities for twenty four teams. In order to meet increased demand and provide facilities which our young people and members deserve the club are embarking on the second phase of our development programme. In order to do so the club must raise a large amount of money. Members can help out by joining Raonaithe Na Croise and agreeing to donate £20 per month for three years. By pledging your support you will be helping your club meet the challenge of the future.
Lotto
The Lotto provides much needed funds for the day to day running of the club and we would ask our members for their support. Tickets cost £1 and can be purchased from any member of the committee or in the local shops. If you feel you could sell some tickets no matter how few please contact Peadar Mc Coy or any member of the committee. For example if you could sell 10 tickets a week it would raise £500 pound a year which would go a long way in covering the travel costs of one of our underage side.
Social Entertainment
Social entertainment continues in the Rangers Hall on Monday nights commencing at 9. O0pm.the club organises tis event for the benefit of the people of the area, so why not come along and enjoy a good night’s entertainment.
O’Neill’s GFC An Port Mór
Seniors
The beginning of 2014 saw a new management team formed at O’Neill Park with Ciaran McDonagh, Gareth Lavery and John Feeney joining forces. Gary Traynor was appointed captain and with Martin Traynor Motors on board as sponsor the foundations for the season were led. The season started positively for Port Mór with an opening day win over Middletown by a margin of three points. A draw in the second game against newly promoted Derrynoose was followed by a two point defeat away to St. Peters.
Port Mór’s early season form had been encouraging and with South Armagh side Mullaghbawn the opposition in round 4 of the league Port Mór travelled South with confidence. In what was one of the games of the season Port Mór fought back from ten points down before half time to record a win scoring 4-7 to the home sides 1-13. Port Mór’s second half performance was one of the high lights of 2014. David Curran top scored with 1-5 and Gary McCrilly poached two goals.

Port Mór recorded a second away league win in a row over neighbours Clonmore and a third away win with a win over North Armagh side Clann Eireann. The Clann Eireann game again saw Port Mór bounce back from a 5 point deficit to record a three point win. David Curran again top scored with four points, Finton Daly impressed with three points while the form Gary McCrilly scored another goal. Port Mór were now in the higher echelons of the intermediate league.
After four good away performances Port Mór travelled to St Pauls; eventual league and championship winners; again in confident mood. St Pauls were in fine fettle in the first half banging in four goals as Port Mór trailed by nine points at the interval. Again Port Mór responded with their new found resilience and with some tremendous football in the second half, eventually getting a well deserved point, and unlucky no to record the win.
A bad weekend in June was to see Port Mór slide down the division. On a wet Friday Night Port Mór lost to Wolfe Tones by a last minute point, scored directly from a sideline kick. And just two days later Culloville raided Port Mór and left with a three point winning margin. Port Mór got back to winning ways with wins over Clann Na Gael and Lisummon. Two more points followed with good draws against both Forkhill and Silverbridge.
Port Mór’s form was, however, about to dip as the championship approached with Eire Og recording a comfortable win at O’Neill Park. Neighbours Grange defeated Port Mór in their last league game after Port Mór’s championship run had come to an end.
Port Mór travelled the short distance to Ballyhegan to face Lisummon in the first round of the Intermediate Championship. Port Mór were favourites; a tag that didn’t sit well; as the South Armagh men caused a shock and dumped Port Mór out of the championship with three second half goals.
Derrynoose were Port Mór’s opponents in the first back door game and again Port Mór were favourites. Port Mór led early on but Derrynoose fought back and led in injury time, only for Port Mór captain Gary Traynor to bag a goal. Extra time was next and Port Mór blitzed their opponents early on to set up an encounter with Silverbridge.
Ballymacnab was the venue as Port Mór played their third game of the championship against Silverbridge. The South Armagh men dominated for long spells but Port Mór fought back and secured a draw and extra time. Extra time however, was not to be so kind this time as Port Mór lost by the minimum. Port Mór’s league form read 6 wins 4 draws and 5 defeats, with 1 win from 3 championship games.
St Enda’s minors
Amalgamated with Tullysaran and Grange, the three local clubs joined together to form St Enda’s at under 18 level. Putting in some tremendous performances throughout the season, culminating in a Intermediate championship victory over Clann Eireann at the Athletic Grounds in Armagh. Port Mór’s representatives in the squad were Seamus Graham, Jack McQuade, John McLaughin, Cormac Kieran and Vance Doherty with Philip Hughes as coach.
Underage News
Port Mór’s under 16’s completed a league and championship campaign recording some positive and negative performances. Coached by Liam Conlon and Joseph McQuade, this team was small in numbers but big in enthusiasm and talent.
Joined with Tullysaran, Port Mór’s under 14’s formed St Enda’s. St Enda’s under 14’s had a moderately successful year. Starting off well with a full panel to choose from the team performed well but holidays affecting the team later in the season. Great attitude was shown by the Squad and development of the players skills was evident by the end of the season.It’s hoped that all the players from both clubs progress on and with their attitude and commitment to serve their clubs with pride and distinction. Special mention to the managers and coaches also, with Brendan Nugent representing An Port Mór.
Port Mor’s Go Games squads at under 12, 10 and 8 continue to receive coaching from the clubs small but dedicated coaches. All squads travelled to play in blitzes with several clubs travelling to An Port Mor.
Annual Award Winners
At the Annual Presentation night held in the Port Mór, the award winners were as follows, Senior player of the year as voted by the senior players Colin Holmes, minor player of the year Seamus Graham, Under 16 player of the year was jointly awarded to Jack McQuade and Cormac Kieran, while Vance Doherty won Most improved Under 16. Club person of the year was awarded to club chairman Tony Donnelly.

The club continue to find themselves in a very fortunate position as regards sponsorship. Martin Traynor Motors continues to sponsor the senior with T-Met looking after the underage teams. Hegarty’s Shop sponsored the St.Enda’s under 14 team while Curran Contracts continues to sponsor field maintenance. The club also receives an enormous amount of support from all the local businesses in the area, all these sponsors are vital to help run An Port Mor.
Fundraisers
The clubs lotto continues to provide a vital trickle of income for the club. The clubs main fundraisers this season were ‘The Big Breakfast 2’ Held in October and the club’s annual ‘Night At The Races’ held along with the club’s annual presentation night in November. Both these fundraisers provided vital income for the club.

The 2014 committee a number of changes from that of the previous year. St Patrick’s GFC Cullyhanna
Armagh Under 21 Championship Final: St Patrick’s 3-15 Grange 1-13
Cullyhanna’s young guns made history with a third championship victory in four years, retaining their under 21 title after a rollercoaster of a match at Pearse Ogs Park on Sunday afternoon. This game was no place for the faint hearted with supporters put through the emotional wringer as players on both sides expended every ounce of energy in the search for victory during a titanic test of guts and character. The opening ten minutes turned out to the quietest of the hour as both sides took some time to feel their way in the match with Aidan Nugent’s early pointed free cancelled out by a Grange score. Twelve minutes had elapsed before Nugent pointed his second free which signalled a period of Cullyhanna dominance that would prove vital in deciding the outcome of the fixture. Conor Connolly pointed after thirteen minutes which was immediately followed a fine Aidan Nugent point from play, his third within the opening quarter. Aidan was again involved in the action a minute later, fetching a perfectly delivered pass from Phelim Savage before handing off to the onrushing Conor Nugent who rounded the goalkeeper with aplomb before tapping into the Grange net for the opening goal of the encounter. That left St Pat’s six points to the good after the opening quarter and whilst that lead was to be whittled away in part on occasions, it would prove to be a sufficient cushion to see Cullyhanna through to the title.
A pointed free by Aidan Nugent eighteen minutes into the half was cancelled out by the second and third Grange points of the game but Cullyhanna were soon in the ascendancy again as they utilised their dominance at midfield to produce two points, the first a fine Gareth Mackin score after a wonderfully perceptive crossfield pass and the second a converted Aidan Nugent free. Seven points clear five minutes before the break, St Pat’s looked to be coasting but Grange served notice of their continuing threat, kicking three points in succession to drag themselves right back into the match. However it was the Cullyhanna lads who were to have the final say in the half as Shea Hoey worked tirelessly to rescue a ball along the end line before judging his pass across the goal perfectly. Aidan Nugent gratefully accepted the gift with which he had been presented and fired a tidy finish to the net to give Cullyhanna a degree of comfort in the margin of their seven point half-time lead.
As was perhaps to be expected, Grange emerged at half-time determined to make inroads into that advantage and they reduced the lead to more manageable proportions with two fine early points. However Cullyhanna reacted to this threat in magnificent fashion as driven forward by the inspiration of Gareth Mackin, they kicked the next four points, a brace of which came from long range Gareth Mackin efforts whilst he was also involved in a fine Shea Hoey point with Conor Connolly adding a further score. That scoring spree left Cullyhanna nine points clear against fourteen men only ten minutes into the second half and it seemed at that stage as though the only matter yet to be decided would be the margin of eventual victory.
But such thoughts reckoned without the gallant nature of the Grange effort who displayed their continued ambitions when they created a golden opportunity for a major score twelve minutes into the half. The mid Armagh men had to settle for a point on that occasion and Shane Conlon looked to have steadied the Cullyhanna ship when he produced a wondrous fetch before pointing in style after an exchange of possession. Grange responded with a point but when a Cullyhanna goal chance went begging eleven minutes from time, few imagined this was likely to have a significant impact on the pattern of the game. Yet it almost turned out to be a vital moment as from the resultant kick out, Grange thundered forward and capitalised on an unusually disorganised Cullyhanna defence to goal. A rejuvenated Grange outfit followed up with a point and suddenly with only four between the sides and momentum firmly against the Cullyhanna men, a significant degree of doubt surrounded the outcome. St Pat’s needed a score badly and found a saviour in the form of Shea Hoey who produced a superb burst before fisting a point. That was to prove only temporary respite for the champions however as two points in a row for Grange brought them back within a kick of the ball with a couple of minutes of normal time remaining. These are the moments in which champions are forged and Cullyhanna showed that they were worthy of that description as they quelled the Grange resistance in tremendous fashion. An important intervention from Phelim Savage gave Shea Hoey the opportunity to display his brilliance with a mazy run which culminated in a Conor Connolly point after Hoey had exhibited magnificent vision to pick out his teammate. The result was put beyond doubt a minute into injury time when Shane Conlon released the overlapping Conor Nugent who sprang forward like an Olympic sprinter before firing an insurance point. A good Adam McQuillan save kept Grange at bay whilst the icing on the sweetest of cakes was provided by Gary Mackin whose exquisite chip brought a third goal and confirmed Cullyhanna as county champions for 2014.
Whilst the defeated but gallant Grange side can quibble in reasonable dissatisfaction with the eventual margin of victory, there can be little doubt that St Pat’s were deserving champions after a performance which sparkled at times but which also required significant reserves of character in the difficult conclusion to this magnificent struggle. Whilst it seems ill-becoming to pick out individuals on such a glorious team occasion, the fine performance of Sean Og Irwin in defence should be noted whilst Gareth Mackin and Phelim Savage excelled around the middle of the park. Up front, Aidan Nugent consistently spread fear in the hearts of the Grange back line with Shea Hoey a very willing accomplice. Far more importantly however is the recognition of the combined efforts of this remarkable squad of players. Over the years, a small club like our own has always considered the occasional county final to be an achievement of significant note yet at under 21 level we have now enjoyed five such occasions in a row with three fantastic victories. Retaining championships has not been a trait associated with Cullyhanna football in the past but after their magnificent exploits in winning last year’s final, these lads took another step forward in 2014. The personnel may have evolved over the course of five years but the style and determination with which their football is played has remained a most enjoyable constant. A particularly pleasing footnote to Sunday’s success was that eight of those involved in playing action were minors in 2014 and with the significant bulk of this magnificent under 21 side still eligible for the grade next season, we can hope with genuine optimism that further success is in store in this grade and also at senior level. On behalf of the committee and members of St Patrick’s GFC Cullyhanna, we wish to extend our warmest congratulations to all the players involved. On a final note, special recognition is due to the management team of Mal Mackin, Stephen Reel and Ciaran Nugent who have made such a wonderful contribution to our club with their guidance of this team.

Thomas Williams- 1964 Junior Champions
A momentous occasion in the history of Cullyhanna football will be commemorated later this month as a special reception takes place in the club on Saturday 29th November to recognise our 1964 Junior Championship team on the 50th anniversary of their victory. This was of course was Cullyhanna’s first ever adult championship and we look forward with pride to hosting those who were involved. A complimentary Buffet supper will be served. This promises to be a night of great entertainment and nostalgia and we welcome all family, friends and members of the 1964 heroes, as well as the community at large.

The very popular Bingo series continues next Sunday 23rd November from 3pm. Please come along for a great afternoon’s craic.
Underage Presentation
The annual presentation for our under 6 and under 8 football teams will be held in the clubrooms on Sunday 23rd of November at 6 pm.
The main presentation for all the underage camogie teams, Scor na nÓg and the under 10 to under 16 girls and boys football will be held in the clubrooms on Friday 28th November starting at 7pm sharp.
AGM
The 2014 AGM takes place on Sunday 7th December. Any member who did not receive Nomination and Motion forms can pick them up from the Club noticeboard or by emailing secretary.stpatrickscullyhanna.armagh@gaa.ie. Completed forms should be returned to the secretary by Friday 21st November. This is an important event in the club calendar and we hope that as many of our members as possible will make an effort to attend.

The club shop continues to open on Friday nights from 7pm to 9pm with Cullyhanna jerseys for sale in all sizes from 2 years to XL adults, as well as the usual great range of merchandise.

GAA Clubs Encouraged to Enhance the Health of Members
GAA volunteers from across Ulster gathered at the Ramada Plaza Hotel, Belfast on Saturday 8th November for the 2014 Irish News Ulster GAA ‘Health is Wealth’ Conference. Opening the event, DCAL Minister praised the GAA for their work in tackling some challenging health issues, in particular that of mental health and wellbeing. The GAA clubs present were encouraged to formalize their efforts in addressing health by appointing a designated officer to take charge of this agenda. Thomas Davis GAC encourages Health and Wealth and our Health and Wellness Officer is Mary O’Reilly. Workshops delivered on the day covered topics such as addiction, mental health, coping with crises, club health and wellbeing and youth health. Following the success of the ‘Health is Wealth’ conference and to support the appointment of Club Health and Wellbeing officer, from January Ulster GAA will be providing training for all volunteers who take up the role as part of their Club Officer Development programme. Ulster GAA President’s Awards 2014 Winners
The annual Ulster GAA President’s Awards took place in the Hilton Hotel Templepatrick on Saturday 8th November. This awards ceremony recognises the Players, Administrators, Coaches, Officials, Referees, and Team Managements for the significant contribution they make to the GAA. Our volunteers are the lifeblood of the GAA and are the very heartbeat of our communities. The Ulster GAA President’s Awards are a way of highlighting the achievements of special and significant contributors to the Association in Ulster. At the 2014 ceremony, they highlighted excellence in the attainment of Club Maith by clubs with 10 winners across the categories of Governance, Duty of Care, Community Enhancement, Culture & Heritage, Coaching & Games, and 1 overall Provincial winner. Thomas Davis GAC won the Ulster Club Maith Award – Culture & Heritage. Our Chairman Anthony Havern, Games and Development Officer Gerry O’Reilly and Development Officer Gerry O’Reilly Senior were there on the night to collect our Award. It is that time of year again and we are calling upon all our Members, Neighbours, Parents and Friends to come forward and Volunteer for the year ahead. Thomas Davis is a small GAA Club but growing by the minute and that’s why we need your help. We as a community need to look forward to the future and to our massive development on Doran’s Hill. This development needs people to help make it a reality for our kids and even their kids hopefully in the future.

This weekend seen all our volunteers up at the pitch once again pouring concrete and cutting grass. The pitch is coming on well and every week sees a little bit more progress. Good luck to our solo singer Dáiríne McCaughley and our quiz team of Matthew Hosty, Matthew Hagan and Odhrán Magee who will compete in the semi-final of Scór na nÓg on Sunday evening in Maghery at 6pm. Ádh mór oraibh. The club would welcome all support for Dáiríne and the boys on the evening.

The annual mass for deceased members and friends of Wolfe Tones and St Enda’s will take place in St Patrick’s Chapel, Aghacommon at 7.00pm on Tuesday 25 November. The club’s annual general meeting will take place at the club on Tuesday 9 December at 7.30pm. Ten days before the meeting, the following will be available on the club premises: Agenda, Secretary’s report, Financial statement, List of nominations and List of motions for discussion. The annual Wolfe Tone and St Enda’s presentation evening will take place at the club on Saturday 29 November. The presentations will take place in the bar and light refreshments will be served. Entertainment will be provided afterwards with the popular Connor Armstrong returning. Make sure you make it down for a great night’s craic.
Camógaíocht/Camogie
Camogie4Mothers continues this Thursday between 7-8pm at Centrepoint Sports in Lurgan. New participants are very welcome and no experience is necessary. Equipment will be provided and a good night’s craic is guaranteed.
Crannchur/Lotto
Last week’s lotto numbers (10.11.14) were 19, 21, 26 & 27. There was no jackpot winner and match three winners were David Leckey, Dympna Hughes and Cathal Tighe. Sellers prize went to C Tighe and this week’s jackpot is £5,600.
Crannchur Náisiúnta/GAA Club Draw
The GAA National Club Draw is back with more prizes than last year and therefore more chances to win. Prizes include trips abroad, weekends at All-Ireland football and hurling finals and semi-finals, shopping trips, vouchers and many more. Tickets are available from any committee member or from the bar and a number of club members will be selling tickets in a number of areas in Derrymacash. A ticket costs just £10 and every ticket sold will directly benefit Wolfe Tones and St Enda’s.

On Saturday 25th October Diamond Rio Junior class held a special Pink Princess party to raise money for Cancer Focus NI Breast Cancer Awareness month. The girls dressed up as their favourite princess or in their favourite colour, pink! The princesses enjoyed a morning of dancing and wand making before finishing with a tea party fit for a queen! A grand total of £250 were raised for the important charity, Cancer Focus NI. A huge thank you to all the helpers, dancers and supporters of the event.
Saturday night saw a huge turnout for Derrytrasna Ceilí club’s winter Ceilí in the hall. Regulars from Tyrone, Donegal and Derry were joined by many locals who were there to lend their support to Greg Breen who had organised the proceeds from the night to go to the Mandeville Unit in Craigavon Hospital. Greg had organised a raffle on the night and there were many great prizes generously donated. The fantastic sum of £810 will be donated to the unit this week.
Raymond Loney on the accordian
Music was by Crumlin musician Raymond Loney and a fantastic supper was organised by the Ceilí committee with many people helping out by making sandwiches and pastries and many others helping in the kitchen with the serving and clearing up.
A minutes silence was observed for the late Davey “Daithí” Lewsley who passed away in August. Davey had been one of the founding members of the Ceilí club in Derrytrasna and along with Harry Gormley had worked tirelessly to keep Ceilí dancing alive and well in Derrytrasna with the help of two Céilís every year. He would be delighted to know that there is still a commitment to Ceilí dancing in the club as Saturday night showed.
Anyone who is up for the craic, enjoys a bit of trad music and can put one foot in front of the other would be welcomed at the Céilís that are ran not only in our own club but in various venues across the north on a Saturday night. Full listings are in the Irish News on a Friday.

General Notes
Club Sarsfields is seeking new members to assist with meeting the costs of ongoing development works at the club. Members make a monthly contribution to the scheme with all contributions going towards ongoing club development. The target is to reach 100 members by the end of the year to allow development works to be completed. Please speak to any committee member or team manager who will provide further details
Can all parents please note that construction work is currently ongoing at the field and no children are to be left unsupervised on club premises.

National Draw tickets are now on sale from any committee members costing £10. Sarsfields will receive all the funds from the ticket sales which will go directly to all football teams within the club. Please support this fund-raiser to ensure that the club can continue to sustain the running costs of all ladies and boys team within the club. Tickets will be available to purchase at the presentation night this Friday. Any tickets purchased will also be entered in an additional draw for Sarsfields members only for a prize of £100.
