Armagh Ladies suffered heartbreak as they lost their All-Ireland semi-final to Dublin in Parnell Park this afternoon.
The writing was pretty much on the wall from the first minute as Niamh McEvoy opened the scoring for Dublin inside a minute before Carla Rowe (2), Noelle Healy and Lyndsey Davey gave them a five point lead.
It got worse from the Orchard county when Davey blasted home a goal on 12 minutes before Armagh finally registered with a goal of their own through Caroline O’Hanlon on 15.
However, Dublin pressed on with Davey, Rowe (2) and Healy extending their lead to nine points.
Aimee Mackin pulled one point back before the break.
Half-time: Dublin 1-9 Armagh 1-1
Amy Connolly and Hannah Noonan added to the hosts’ tally shortly after the restart before Armagh’s Kelly Mallon and Fionnula McKenna reduced the deficit back to eight.
Healy added another two for the Dubs either side of another Fionnula McKenna point.
The SkyBlues introduced Olivia Leonard on 55 minutes and she made an instant impact with a point of her own a minute later.
Armagh were intent on making their opponents work until the final moments and their best player on the day, Aimee Mackin, bagged a second goal for her side, as she squeezed the ball into the corner of the Dublin net.
However, if that gave Armagh a small glimmer of hope, Sarah McCaffrey soon extinguished that with a goal with two minutes of normal time remaining.
Sinead Goldrick and Amy Connolly added another two points to give Dublin a comfortable 11-point victory and another showdown with Cork in the final.
